Kazakh Agriculture Minister Aidarbek Saparov, during his working visit, addressed the Chamber of Trade and Industry of Türkiye, highlighting the potential for expanding mutually beneficial cooperation between the two nations, Kazinform News Agency reports, citing the country’s agriculture ministry.
Saparov noted that trade between Kazakhstan and Türkiye has been steadily growing, with agricultural trade turnover increasing by 13% in 2023 to reach $325 million. Kazakhstan’s key exports to Türkiye include lentils, cotton fiber, grain, legumes, and gluten.
In a significant development, Türkiye lifted a 20-year trade ban on livestock products from Kazakhstan in June 2024, following successful negotiations. In return, Türkiye exports fruits, nuts, chocolate, confectionery, and agricultural inputs to Kazakhstan.
Saparov emphasized Türkiye’s advanced agricultural processing technologies, noting that six joint projects worth $53 million have already been completed in Kazakhstan with Turkish investment. He also revealed that ten more projects, valued at $553 million, are currently underway.
During the meeting, agreements worth $2 billion were signed, including trade contracts for meat imports valued at $80 million. These agreements focus on cooperation in constructing vegetable storage facilities, agro-service enterprises, agricultural processing plants, and expanding livestock exports to Türkiye.
