In a significant development aimed at bolstering international trade routes, the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the People’s Republic of China have approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) focused on the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Routes for the China-Europe Railway Express. This move is set to enhance the connectivity between Asia and Europe, positioning Azerbaijan as a critical hub in the global transport network.
President Ilham Aliyev has signed the decree to ratify the MoU, according to APA reports. The Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of the Republic of Azerbaijan has been tasked with overseeing the implementation of the provisions of the agreement. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will notify the Chinese government that all necessary internal procedures for the MoU’s entry into force have been completed.
The MoU underscores the strategic importance of the Trans-Caspian corridor, which serves as a vital link in the China-Europe Railway Express, facilitating the movement of goods across vast distances with greater efficiency. This agreement not only strengthens the bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and China but also contributes to the broader goal of enhancing regional connectivity and economic cooperation.
As this agreement takes effect, it is expected to further elevate Azerbaijan’s role in global logistics, providing new opportunities for trade and economic growth within the region and beyond.
